The Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) recently approved the USPS proposed price changes to Mailing & Shipping Services products. The new rates will go into effect on January 21, 2018.
Changes to First-Class Mail®
- Price increase for First-Class Metered Mail, from $0.46 to $0.47
- First-Class Commercial Base Pricing remains: One price for all commercial letters up to 3.5 ounces
- First-Class Mail® retail stamp price increase from $0.49 to $0.50
- First-Class Mail® single piece post cards from $0.34 to $0.35
- First-Class Presort:
- Average increase for First-Class Mail is +1.9%
- Average increase for Priority Mail is +3.9%
- Average increase for Parcel Select Lightweight (PSLW) is +7.0%
Changes to USPS Marketing Mail
- Average increase in Standard Mail pricing +1.9%
- Average increase in Parcels +2.8%
Changes to other Mailing Products and Services
New pricing to affect several services, with average increases as follows:
- Periodicals +1.84%
- Package Services +3.9 %
- Special Services +2.0%
