The sixth annual Indy Homeless Connect will take place on April 13, 2011 from 9am – 4pm at the Indiana Convention Center. For the 4th year in a row, HardingPoorman Group will be a part of the event, sending 11 staff volunteers to help.
This year as in years past, homeless neighbors will be able to access an array of services including housing, employment, benefits and identification, legal aid, mental health, acute medical care, and dental and vision screenings. In addition to these vital services, there will be many additional services offered including: haircuts, massages, free phone calls to friends and family, email access, free book distribution, lunch, a take-a-way bag with hygiene items, even a Spiritual Garden to visit for meditation, prayer or reflection.
Last year, over 50 service providers and municipal agencies, came together with the City of Indianapolis, offering services, support and care to over 1,065 homeless individuals, including almost 100 children. This year, the expectation is to reach even more individuals, children and families.
