Transformational partners: HPG & Providence Cristo Rey High School

Since last fall, HardingPoorman Group has participated in Providence Cristo Rey (PCR) High School’s transformational work-study program. The work-study program provides students the opportunity to work in an office environment for one day per week to help offset the cost of their tuition.

HardingPoorman Group participates in the corporate school program by offering work for one student each school year.  HPG’s clients & staff members have seen our 2011-2012 intern Janese, a freshman at PCR, grow from a reserved, shy young lady to someone who is comfortable in an office setting. Janese has learned a lot about  the daily activities of an office environment during her work here in an administrative assistant role.  Since September, she has received on the job training including business etiquette and operations, professional emailing, working with Excel spreadsheets and scanning – all great resume-building skills.

According to Rhett Cochran, Director of the Corporate Work Study Program at Providence, “As is the case with many first year students, Janese has grown quite a bit.  The experience she has gained at Harding Poorman Group will continue to help her to grow not only as a student here at Providence Cristo Rey, but helps prepare her for success in college and beyond.”

Encouraging individual growth is a big part of what Providence Cristo Rey offers to their students. HPG is pleased to be able to see first hand the difference we can all make by creating unique educational opportunities.
