New to your position or not entirely clear on how to send us files for printing? HPG is happy to help. Using the guidelines below, you can usually lower the overall cost of your job by reducing the amount of time HPG staff spends to correct or “prep” your file. The more quickly your job moves through HPG, the less it costs.
Here are some quick reference points on how to send us files:
For Conventional offset printing jobs:
- Images should be 300 dpi and placed at 100 percent in the document
- All colors and images should be CMYK
- PMS colors should specified and not altered
- If your design calls for color bleeds (color or an image that runs off the page), please allow one-eighth inch (0.125”) on all sides for trim
- Final document size should be the same as trim size for final piece
For Digital printing jobs:
- Images should be at 300 dpi and placed at 100 percent
- Colors should be CMYK
- All scans processed in RGB should remain in RGB
- All digital photographs should remain in RGB
- Pantone colors should be specified as such to reproduce as truly as possible
- If your design calls for color bleeds (color or an image that runs off the page), please allow one-eighth inch (0.125”) on all sides for trim
- Final document size should be the same as trim size for final piece
Knowing a few key points like these prior to sending us your printing files are the tools you need to significantly reduce the likelihood of problems upon the completion of your job. That said, the staff of HPG is always ready to help with any additional jobs you may have. Ask your printing rep for help – or call us with any questions. We’ll be sure you get the answers you need.
