An INDICIA is a printed graphic that signifies to the United States Post Office (USPS) that postage on a particular piece will be paid by using a mailing permit. Indicias are used in place of a stamp.

Mailing Permit Imprints Pre-printing makes permit imprints convenient.Permit Imprints are an easy way to pay for bulk postage. No buying postage in advance, resetting your meter, or affixing stamps.
The mailer prints postage information in the upper right corner of the mailpiece. This postage block is called a permit imprint. Permit imprints are the most popular way to pay for postage. In general Permit Imprint mailings must contain at least 200 pieces or 50 lbs.
